Princeton - will work for food |

Who says you can't buy love? Obviously someone who hasn't
met Princeton. Princeton is a royal standard apricot male poodle. Princeton was born on October 15, 2005.

Princeton got ahold of Shannon's
slipper - she give him his Wooby and hid the slipper. He leave no
Wooby unturned looking for it!

| In fact, we liked Princeton so much that we
bought Virginia Woolf.
She came home in summer 2006. |

Why poodles? |
| |
We've had dogs for over forty years, and this is
the first time we have purchased a standard poodle. We are very
impressed with the breed. They are a nice size, with the royal
standards obtaining the size of an afghan. They are non shedding and
hypoallergenic, and are in the top two breeds for intelligence. That
said, you have to proceed with caution when looking for a standard poodle.
Our aim was to find a dog that was being raised for "work" as opposed to
show. We are categorically against the cropping of tails, and
unfortunately the "breed standard" for standard poodles is to cut off half
the puppy's tail when it is a few days old. This serves absolutely no
purpose whatsoever except to satisfy a "breed standard" that someone set.
Several countries in Europe have now made it illegal to crop a dog's tail
for esthetic reasons.
There are lots of possibilities for health problems with poodles, as there
are with all other purebred dog breeds. Click
here to see a list of the common health
problems of poodles.
Here is a link to the
Canadian Guide to
Dogs which has a good article about the history and origins of
standard poodles.
