ULCERS |
Ulcers are a major problem in llamas and alpacas - they can often appear
without any warning, and the first clue you have that an ulcer is present it
when you find the animal dead.
Inadequate worming can be a contributing factor to the development of ulcers
in llamas and alpacas. Worms that imbed themselves in the lining of
the stomach and intestines, such as whipworms, can be particularly harmful.
If you suspect that you have an animal that is developing an ulcer, call
your vet because it is a life threatening condition. He/she will
probably prescribe, as a first step, an ulcer medication similar to that
used in humans. |
